Another option for less severe acne scarring is laser treatment. This achieves the same peeling effect as microdermabrasion, but uses a laser instead of a chemical treatment. This treatment also requires several visits.

For severe acne scarring, the best treatment option is surgery. Often times it is not the overlying skin that will need to be surgically altered, so you won’t require stitches, or other highly visible marks of an incision made to your skin.

If your skin has been left discolored by acne, there are also many treatments available to you. Discoloration is probably the easiest form of acne scarring to treat, as you can usually treat this effectively with over the counter lotions and gels.
